Mueller Airport Control Tower
The Mueller Airport Control Tower is a lovely piece of history in Austin. It is one structure that is still standing from the old Robert Mueller Airport days. Since then, Austin has grown, and the Airport was moved further outside of the central part of Austin. Lucky for us, it makes for some nice photos and a walk through the neighborhood will bring you up close to a few flowers for some smells and photographs.
Bull Creek District Park
The recent rains in Austin have transformed Bull Creek District Park into a giant water park for the family. People were having a great time this evening with swimming, sliding down the waterfalls, playing on the rope swing, picnicking, and wading through the shallow parts. There were million dollar homes in the hills, wildflowers on the trails, and family pets wondering how they ended up in the middle of a flooded creek. Forget paying those expensive water park fees for a while and get yourself over to Bull Creek for a swim. 🙂
Neighborhood Walk
What can you do when your car is in the shop for alignment, among other things? You can beg your friend for a ride home from work. You can go for a swim and then bring your camera along for a neighborhood walk. You might see an awesome sunset, a bunny, a Versa-Vibe, the half moon, and other cool stuff. See, who needs a car anyways? Uh, can someone give me a ride to work in the morning? 🙂
Two-Tailed Mermaid
This is a nice, calm, slow afternoon. Drinking Vanilla Bean Frappuccino at Starbucks and learning about the origin of the Starbuck’s Mermaid. I took a few photos and then used the Pixlr App to add some effects to one of them. I just wish this drink had some caffeine, because now I am getting very sleepy.
The Sorcerer
I am growing to like the Operas of Gilbert and Sullivan. Today’s escape from the rains in Austin was found watching The Sorcerer. It is a funny story of a town that drinks a “philtre” or love potion at a wedding of the village aristocrats, and then everyone falls in love with the first person of the opposite sex that they come across. Imagine how crazy that would be. It makes for a fun story, and you can catch it in Austin through June 28th if you are interested and find yourself in the area.
Santorini Cafe
It continues to rain in Austin. I had a quick, dry lunch inside Santorini Cafe in Austin today – lamb gyro and iced tea. This is a pleasant spot on North Lamar Blvd. and I need to return on a sunny day and make use of their cool patio.

Curtain Theater
On Richard Garriott’s lakeside property in Austin, there is a replica of the Globe Theater called the Curtain Theater. A performance of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” was scheduled for tonight, but then the rains came. The show was cancelled at the last minute, and then the rains went away. Oh well, what can you do?
